Katharine Mantle RAD RTS ARAD
After studying all facets of dance from leading teachers at a young age, Katharine received full teaching qualifications from The Royal Academy Of Dance.
Katharine’s focus to provide the best possible training has led her to visit and attend course run by leading international teachers and training institutions.
In 2016 she attended teacher training at The Paris Opera Ballet Schools and subsequently was invited back twice more in 2017 to learn more in depth about the French training style from the school’s prestigious teachers.
Recently in 2018 she completed all 6 modules of The Royal Ballet Schools inspire teacher training course.
Students Katharine has trained have gone on to be accepted into – The Australian Ballet School, The Hamburg Ballet School, The English National Ballet School, The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, Balletschule Theater Basel, The New Zealand School of Dance, WAAPA and Sydney Dance Company PPY along with many more. Graduated students have also secured professional contracts with Royal Caribbean Cruises and junior company positions with Mystic Ballet Company USA.
Past and present students have attained outstanding examination, scholarship and eisteddfod results. They have also been finalist or prize winners prestigious competitions both nationally and internationally.
Katharine has a keen interest in choreography and her greatest joy is seeing her students reach their full potential.
ELENA MARCON MA(ARCH) ARAD
Classical Ballet, Stretch & Conditioning
Elena began her studies age three at The Ballet School in Perth WA, under the tuition of Noelene Wilson and Adrienne Eastoe, and later under Adrienne Eastoe and Nicole Roland.
At 14 she was the winner of the Joan Stacey RAD Scholarship, the Gay Cruikshank Scholarship, the CSTD State Classical Scholarship and the RAD Advanced 1 Bursary. The following year after winning the Linley Wilson RAD Scholarship, she continued her studies under Marie Walton-Mahon in Newcastle, NSW. Later that year she received six offers from European schools, and choose to study with Accademia Teatro alla Scala in Milan under Anna Maria Prina and Frederic Olivieri, with partial scholarship.
She completed her studies at the school of the Hamburg Ballet under John Neumeier, were she also danced with the Hamburg Ballett. Her repertoire includes – Yondering, The Sleeping Beauty, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, La Bayadere, Giselle, Romeo and Juliet and The Rite of Spring.
Throughout her seven years at Katharine Mantle Performing Arts Academy, Elena has coached both full time and part time students to an elite level in classical ballet. Students have enjoyed both national and international successes, including several placements at professional schools and companies. In 2018 she travelled to Hong Kong to complete the Royal Ballet School’s teacher training course to further her expertise in elite classical training.
Elena is passionate about the physical, mental and emotional development of young dancers who aspire to a career in classical ballet.
CARIS SPILLANE RAD RTS ARAD
Classical Ballet, Progressing Ballet Technique
Caris completed her ballet training with June Stevens in Perth, Western Australia, achieving distinctions in all exams up to Advanced 2. Whilst completing her Royal Academy of Dance training she performed several seasons with the Perth City Ballet. Caris received her Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies from the Royal Academy of Dance in 2007 and a Bachelor of Science (Majoring in Human Movement and Psychology) from The University of Western Australia in 2010.
Caris has taught ballet to students in various countries, including Australia, Belgium and the United Kingdom. In Perth, Caris taught at Academie Etoiles whilst also serving as the Specialist Ballet Teacher at Penrhos College’s Junior School. In 2012 Caris moved to Brussels, Belgium where she taught at Danz Royal Ballet School. During this time she assisted in the organization of RAD events such as the Genee Dance Challenge. Caris was also involved with the Genee in Antwerp, 2014. In 2015 Caris moved to Birmingham, United Kingdom where she commenced teaching with Point the Way Ballet School before returning to Perth in 2016.
As well as many years of high RAD exam results, Caris’ has had students accepted into the Australian Ballet School Interstate Junior Programme, Elmhurst Ballet School Associates Programme, The Birmingham Royal Ballet Associates Programme, The Royal Ballet Summer School and the Royal Academy of Dance’s Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies program.
REBECCA DEWAR RAD RTS
Jazz, Contemporary, Classical Ballet
Diploma in Dance and fully qualified RAD teacher Rebecca’s dance career began at Katharine Mantle Performing Arts Academy studying, ballet, contemporary, jazz and hip hop. She also attended John Curtin College of the Arts where she studied both dance and drama. Her skills and hard work being recognized when invited to perform in ‘Perspectives’ in 2011. Rebecca continued her dance studies in Newcastle at the renowned ‘National College of Dance’ where she gained her ‘Diploma in Elite Performance’ in Contemporary and ballet as well as having the opportunity to work with a range of key international choreographers; increasing her knowledge and technique in a number of different dance styles. While in Newcastle, Rebecca danced in a number of performances including ‘The Nutcracker’ and ‘Klash’ by Brett Morgan. Since returning to Perth Rebecca has been in high demand teaching across a number of studios. She has won awards for both solo and troupe choreography in a range of ages and genres. Rebecca has recently completed her CBTS – RAD teaching qualification, as well as enjoying practicing Yoga in her (little) spare time which she also plans to study formally at a future date.
Commercial Hip Hop, Jazz, Acrobatics
Jessica Newell started dancing at the age of two, where she lived and studied in Busselton for 13 years. At the age of 15 Jessica moved to Perth to study at John Curtin College Of the Arts, as well as WAAPA (West Australian Performing Arts). At age 18 she moved to Sydney to study at the prestigious school ‘Brent Street Studios’, where she graduated in Certificate IV in Performing Arts. While on Tour with Brent Street in America, Jessica received a full scholarship to Pulse on Tour for the following year, in which she then used and successfully booked one of the biggest agencies in the world, ‘MSA’. She then lives in Hollywood, California, were she danced, acted and modelled professionally. Her credits include: Kesha, Pitbull, Chris Brown, Timabland, Neyo and many more.
Jessica has also worked on set with some of the best in the business, such as: Quinton Taratino, Sam Rami, James Franco, Mila Kunis and many more. Jessica has choreographed music videos whilst in LA, professional jobs at the Crown Casino for Excessive Productions and other corporate work. Jessica has taught at 12+ Schools in Perth, as well as Sydney and America. She strives to push dancers to their limits, mentally and physically, finding strengths and weaknesses to help each individual improve and get closer to their dream.
In addition to her performance experience and expertise, Jessica can be classed as an entrepreneur, due to the companies and options she offers local dancers. She is the creator of New Wave Images, a photography company that capturing dancer’s movements and emotions. She is also the founder of A Dancers’ Dream Tour: a company in which Jessica travels local dancers to America to inspire them and give them a better understanding on the performing arts industry. Jessica specializes in Commercial Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap, Acrobatics, Lyrical and Contemporary. Her overall goal is to inspire kids of Australia and help dancers in their own goals within performing Arts.
Fitness, Conditioning, Progressing Ballet Technique
Sam has been a fitness PT and coach for 20 years. She qualified in the UK in Group Exercise, PT and Clinical Pilates and had a successful business working in many of the high profile fitness clubs as well as alongside specialist sport physios providing exercise rehab to elite, national and international sports professionals as well as general population.
On arrival in Australia 10 years ago, Sam was immediately taken on by TAFE to lecture both Sport and Fitness and has since been involved in developing the delivery, assessment and career of many hundreds of professionals in this area. This includes training and qualifying athletes from the West Coast Eagles, Fremantle Dockers and Western Force. At the same time Sam continues to train clients and students developing a specialisation of working with dancers.
Sam has continually updated her qualifications and accreditations to provide a wide level of knowledge and experience to her students and clients. To date she has completed over 40 fitness related qualifications including Pilates studies with five different bodies, Bosu, Progressing Ballet Technique, Fitball, flexibility and stretch, EBAS, Children’s trainer, strength and conditioning, myofascial and foam rolling, small ball rolling and muscle release. Sam is currently in the process of completing a Vinyasa Yoga accreditation to add to her competencies. As well as fitness studies Sam has multiple teaching qualifications providing essential insight to providing positive learning environments, behaviour management and mental health first aid. Sam was also nominated for lecturer of the year in 2018 and one of her students won trainee of the year.
Sam’s passion is to help her students reach their full potential with minimal injury risk and longevity of career, she works closely with a range of health professionals to provide the best outcomes for each individual.
Training in Perth, Western Australia, Corey’s career took off after obtaining a scholarship to Brent Street in Sydney, where he spent a year honing his skills. He then traveled and worked in many Asian countries such as Japan, South Korea and Singapore for companies Universal Studios, MTV Asia and Sony Avex Trax (Japan), plus many more. While abroad, Corey was fortunate enough to perform with artists Ayumi Hamasaki and Koda Kumi, international J-Pop stars, and choreographers such as Kyle Hanagami and Nappytabs. Upon returning to Australia, Corey was quickly swooped up by Jason Coleman to work on corporate shows, live events and TV shows such as Dancing With The Stars, Australia’s Got Talent and The Footy Shows Players Revue. Corey has most recently returned from Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas where he performed as a part of the inaugural cast of We Will Rock You – The QUEEN Musical.
Born in the Philippines, Una Genuino is a choreographer and dancer based in Perth, Western Australia. Una began her training at the age of 4 in various styles such as Modern Jazz and Gymnastics eventually finding a love for hip-hop, urban and street dance at the age of 13.
In 2013, Una co-founded The Society dance company. The Society Mega Crew being the one of the most successful teams in Australia placing among the top competing hip hop crews in with their most recent success receiving the 3rd top placing at Dancer’s Paradise in Mexico 2017, as well as representing Australia at the World Hip Hop International Championships in America.
Una prides herself on high-energy, detailed and motivating teaching methods that enable her students to reach their highest potential possible in dance, mind and self.
